Latifah Munirah Kamarudin, Ph.D. is a Top Research Scientist in Malaysia, specializing in
wireless sensing and artificial intelligence.
As the Head of the Center of Excellence for Advanced Sensor Technology (CEASTech)—a
multidisciplinary research center translating innovations from the lab to real-world solutions
focusing on industrial and community issues—she has mentored and coordinated research fellows to
work together, sharing expertise to create multidisciplinary solutions.
She has successfully coached researchers in securing funding, leading high-impact projects, and
publishing articles.
Latifah has established strong international networks with partners in Japan, Korea, China, the
United Kingdom, and France, driving successful research collaborations, international funding,
and mobility programs.
Through the A3I Campus Asia Plus program, she has coordinated sponsorships for over 200 inbound
and outbound students.
She pioneered dual-degree programs between UniMAP and global universities, successfully
coordinating four active programs with Japan and Korea, supporting 14 active and 5 graduated PhD
students. She is also appointed as a Visiting Professor at the University of Yamanashi.
Latifah has supervised a total of 35 postgraduate students and visiting researchers (including
13 PhD graduates, 8 active PhD students, 7 MSc graduates, 2 active MSc students, 3 postdoctoral
researchers, and 2 international visiting researchers).
She has secured over RM10 million in international and national research funding and founded
IDERIA, a startup dedicated to R&D product commercialization.
Her pioneering research in AI-powered smart societies—focusing on healthcare, smart cities, and
manufacturing—has emphasized contactless sensing technologies for continuous vital-sign
monitoring, directly benefiting ageing populations and high-risk individuals.
These contributions support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and
Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
Her research excellence is demonstrated by a publication record of 200 articles, 1,847
citations, and an H-Index of 22.
